Secure digital media distribution company Yangaroo has announced that Scott Wambolt will resign as President, Chief Executive Officer and member of the Board of Directors, effective February 29, 2012. Students and graduates in the Waterloo area and across southern Ontario, will benefit from nearly $2.5 million to help stimulate innovation through skills training. This funding, announced today by Peter Braid, Member of Parliament for Kitchener-Waterloo, on behalf of the Honourable Gary Goodyear, Minister of State for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), will enable the University of Waterloo, Shad Valley International, and University of Waterloo Commercialization Centre to expand their diverse programming in the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields. Vancouver developer Intrinsyc Software International, Inc. and Ubiquisys, a UK-based developer of 3G and LTE small cells, will demonstrate Small Cell WiFi Wake-up at Mobile World Congress, February 27 – March 1. An innovative combination of handset and small cell apps, WiFi Wake-up switches on WiFi as the user enters a 3G/LTE/WiFi small cell hotspot and logs into the hotspot’s secure WiFi network. When the user then leaves the hotspot, the WiFi is turned-off. This provides a compelling new tool for operators to maximize data offload by integrating carrier WiFi with small cell base stations.
